BIOGRAPHY

I began my journey as a designer not in architecture or fashion, but in visual art. I had a strong desire at a young age to create works that represented how I felt as a child growing up in Toronto; filled with imagination, excitement and hope. As I grew older and begin to realize some of these aspirations, my goals shifted; it was no more about making people feel how I feel, but drawing their feelings out into something tangible.

I design and sew my own clothes, paint and sketch, make jewelry, and sing - these are all hobbies outside of my architectural studies. I am multidisciplinary because I have a strong belief that skills and knowledge in multiple areas make a person more appreciative of the skills and knowledge of others.

My main pursuit, however, is architectural design. I've known since I was 14 that I wanted to study architecture - at first for the perceived fame and money, but later because of how housing has changed in the neighborhoods I've grown up in. I've seen (and at one time lived) in apartment complexes and public housing projects that are inefficient and in a stagnant state, not even attempting to engage their communities. My goal when I become an architect is delve into the realm of community housing and infuse it with both environmental and social sustainability.
